ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

ROLE PURPOSE

As the Director of Operations, you would lead company-wide operations at a high level, ensuring that scheduling, procurement, fleet, facilities, inventory, field execution, and team development operate in a coordinated and efficient manner. This role would focus on operational strategy, performance management, profitability improvement, and leadership development, while helping the company scale with consistency, accountability, and strong communication across departments. Outlined below would be responsibilities of the Director of Operations.

OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP

  • Develop and implement operational strategies that align with company vision, growth objectives, and long-term business needs.
  • Continuously analyze workflows and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, accountability, and operational consistency.
  • Develop and maintain operational playbooks, systems, and standards that support execution across departments.
  • Coordinate communication and collaboration between design, estimating, procurement, and field teams to improve alignment and project flow.
  • Strengthen Leadership Development by adding succession planning, manager development, and organizational design/accountability
  • Utilize technology and reporting tools to enhance communication, decision-making, and overall operational performance.

PROJECT SCHEDULING AND RESOURCE ALLOCATION

  • Oversee company-wide project scheduling and resource allocation to ensure labor, equipment, and materials are aligned with project needs.
  • Balance workload across teams and implement capacity planning strategies to improve efficiency and reduce bottlenecks.
  • Support project execution by aligning schedules, manpower, and operational priorities across departments.

FLEET, FACILITIES, AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

  • Develop and oversee strategies for fleet and equipment management that maximize utilization, reliability, and lifecycle value.
  • Oversee equipment procurement, facility organization, maintenance coordination, and safety compliance.
  • Manage inventory and procurement systems to ensure accurate tracking, responsible allocation, and operational readiness.
  • Establish processes and dashboards that improve visibility into inventory, procurement, and asset management performance.

PROFITABILITY AND FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE

  • Develop and maintain operational and project profitability models that support informed decision-making and financial accountability.
  • Prepare annual budgets for all divisions.
  • Compile senior leadership reports and recommendations for executive decision-making and capital planning
  • Monitor cost structures, identify inefficiencies, and implement cost-control strategies that improve margins and reduce unnecessary expense.
  • Establish financial dashboards, profitability targets, pricing strategies, and resource planning practices that support company performance.
  • Identify and mitigate operational and financial risks that may impact profitability, project delivery, or long-term growth.

TEAM DEVELOPMENT AND PERFORMANCE

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, transparent communication, and strong leadership across the organization.
  • Develop clear performance expectations, evaluation systems, and recognition structures that support employee growth and accountability.
  • Design and support training, mentorship, cross-training, and skill development initiatives that strengthen team capability and leadership depth.
  • Lead and mentor department leaders to ensure consistent performance, professional development, and alignment with company standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Advanced financial analysis, operational planning, and project management capabilities.
  • Strong ability to improve operational efficiency through systems thinking, technology integration, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Strategic leadership skills, including change management, collaborative leadership, and performance coaching.
  • 7–10 years of leadership experience in operations, with a proven record of improving profitability and team performance.
  • Strong understanding of the landscape, construction, or design-build industry.

REPORTING, COMPENSATION, AND DEVELOPMENT STRUCTURE

  • This role reports directly to the Integrator and provides leadership across key operational functions, including construction leadership, project management, field supervision, fleet, procurement, inventory, and plant procurement.
  • Compensation would include a base salary, performance-based bonus opportunities, and support for professional and leadership development.
  • Professional development may include leadership training, industry conferences, certifications, mentorship, and strategic planning opportunities.
